Rubber Roofing
in Calgary
EPDM and TPO flat roof systems engineered to handle Calgary's harsh freeze-thaw cycles, UV exposure, and ponding water — professionally installed for lasting protection.
Calgary Flat Roof Specialists
Flat and low-slope roofs are the right choice for many Calgary homes, garages, additions, and commercial buildings — but they demand a fundamentally different waterproofing approach than sloped roofs. Rubber membranes like EPDM and TPO are the industry-standard solution, offering seamless waterproofing coverage that shingles simply cannot provide on low-pitch surfaces.
EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) is a time-tested synthetic rubber that has protected flat roofs for over 50 years. It remains flexible at temperatures as low as -45°C — critical for Alberta winters — and bonds reliably to roof decks using adhesive or ballast systems. TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) takes a different approach: seams are heat-welded together, creating a bond stronger than the membrane itself. TPO's reflective white surface also reduces heat gain in summer months. Both systems have a place in Calgary's climate, and we will recommend the right solution for your specific roof geometry, budget, and building use.
Proper installation is everything with flat roofing. The majority of rubber roof failures occur at seams, penetrations, and flashings — not in the field of the membrane. Our installation crews are trained specifically in membrane work, ensuring every drain collar, pipe boot, parapet cap, and seam is executed to manufacturer specifications and warranted accordingly.
Flat Roof Systems We Install
EPDM Membrane
Proven synthetic rubber membrane with 50+ years of track record. Stays flexible at extreme cold temperatures — ideal for Alberta's harsh winters.
TPO Membrane
Heat-welded thermoplastic membrane with reflective surface. Watertight seams stronger than the membrane itself, excellent for commercial applications.
Modified Bitumen
Two-ply reinforced asphalt system applied by torch or cold-adhesive. A durable mid-range option for flat and low-slope roofs with a long service history.
Flat Roof Coatings
Elastomeric and silicone coating systems that restore and extend existing flat roof membranes without full tear-off. Cost-effective when the substrate is still sound.
How We Install Your Flat Roof
Roof Assessment
We inspect the existing deck, insulation, drains, scuppers, and parapet walls. We measure the roof area, identify penetrations, and document any damage or moisture intrusion before recommending a membrane system.
Surface Preparation
The old membrane and any saturated insulation are removed. The deck is inspected and repaired as needed. New insulation board is installed to meet current energy code requirements and establish proper slope-to-drain.
Membrane Installation
The EPDM or TPO membrane is rolled out, adhered or heat-welded to the substrate, and carefully fitted around every penetration. All seams are overlapped and sealed to manufacturer specifications.
Sealing & Inspection
All drain collars, pipe penetrations, parapet flashings, and termination bars are sealed and inspected. We perform a final walkthrough and provide the manufacturer warranty documentation.
